"The arms that you wield now are not such as your forefathers wielded; but they are infinitely more effective, and infinitely more irresistable" ~ Cymru Fydd leaflet, 1890

Something extraordinary happened recently, after a tweet I made had a good reaction I made a graphic of it and posted it on my facebook page. After that I'm not quite sure what happened but over the next few days the picture was shared more than 15,000 times creating over 1.2 million views.

The post was made the night before the news broke of the child who had drowned on the beach so this probably had an effect on the way people think towards the refugee crisis that we, as citizens of the blood thirsty UK must share blame for causing.

If you help create a problem you should help solve it. Share via facebook | twitter
"If you don't like refugees coming to your country, then stop voting for politicians who love to bomb the shit out of other countries" - Welsh not British

It's quite simple, we elect war mongers who have destabilised an entire region which was already destabilised to begin with. The fact that previous generations of our people voted for other war mongers who decided where the borders of these countries should lie didn't help in the first place.

Add to this the fact that we love selling these countries weapons and you are simply asking for trouble. Wales is a country of around 3.1 million people. We are a country that has a huge amount of migrants who have come to live in Wales. Some have come for work and others have come because they want to retire here. There are also a huge amount of people who were born in Wales and have decided to move elsewhere, either for work or for a better quality of life.

The people we are seeing on the news are being described as migrants in order for us to associate them with a plumber from Poland, a carpenter from Lithuania or a builder from Ireland. These people are refugees who are escaping an area that we have destabilised. They are not migrants they are fleeing for their lives. Once you are able to differentiate between a migrant and a refugee then the decision of whether to welcome them or not becomes much easier.

  1. What is 'fool' in Welsh, I wonder

  2. The immigrants being rescued in The Med are mostly Africans escaping their poor standard of life. They've seen how the West live on social media. Many of them have mobile phones FFS. They want to live like we do. Can't blame them

  3. As someone wisely posted on Facebook about this ......... "what's wrong with the world? Let me tell you one of the things wrong with it... that for a week hundreds have shared a touching picture of children in front of a UN tent in a refugee camp. The tent says something along the lines of, "if you don't want refugees in your country, then stop voting for people who bomb our countries".
Oh, of course, there is a lot of truth in that, but of course, it is only a partial truth, because most of those people are in refugee camps not because of Western leaders, but because of the bombs dropped on them by the Assad regime, by its partner Russia, even by its solid supporters, the mercenaries of Hezbollah and the Iranian Artesh or even their special forces.
How many people share this picture? With children actually under the bombs, standing in the rubble of what was probably their own street, telling you Russia and the regime are killing them by bombs and starvation. How come this picture is not some hotly shared meme? How come it's more pleasant for us to share out "Western burden" than to share and raise awareness of the facts of the genocide of the Syrian people????"
