Banning the Union Flag

A new e-petition has been launched by the founder of Plaid Glyndŵr, calling for the outright ban on flying the flag of the British Empire on all Welsh Government buildings in Wales. I'm not affiliated with Plaid Glyndŵr or any party for that matter. But I am all too happy to support a cause such as this.
We call upon the National Assembly for Wales to urge the Welsh Government to ban the flying of the British union flags outside official Welsh government buildings. This embarrassing display of insecurity and submissiveness by the Welsh government and our local council officials is a disgusting colonial habit that should have died alongside the ‘British Empire’ many years ago.
In order to show my support I created the following graphic for my own facebook page and for anyone else who wishes to use it. I also created the shortened link to make it easier for people to remember because if nothing else comes of this petition but to show our politicians up for the sycophantic colonial puppets that they are, then that's a good thing.

  1. It won't make a difference but I have signed. It would be easy to implement by changing the planning laws such that only a Welsh flag can be flown without specific planning permission

  2. What needs to be done more so than asking to remove one flag, is the distribution of the Welsh flag. Do you have one outside your house? Does your car have a Welsh sticker? Do you ask why your pub doesn't display a Welsh flag - bet they had a Union Jack plus bunting this year! Welsh people need to see on a daily basis, our flag. Fact. In every supermarket, on every other package is a Union Jack. You can't go into a furniture shop without seeing Union Jack cushions and bedspreads. Your local shop probably sells Union Jack shit, just like EVERY UK retail business. There is still bunting floating around from 6 months ago. Are you asking to remove it?
We need a massive campaign to put he Welsh flag back, where the U ion flag has become normal. NOW

  4. I think we are all witnessing the total loss of our identity, shame, we did nothing to prevent it, but did everything to ignore it.

  5. Plaid Glyndwr's credibility has gone out of the window if this is the sort of thing they're worried about.

  7. Total tripe. If you hate the flag of a democratic country then you can choose to not display it. Don't force other democratic minded people to do the same for your misguided pleasure!
